Police Pass-Out Raises Questions About Recruitment Letters in Likuyani
South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro on Friday accompanied President William Ruto to Kiganjo Police Training College during the pass-out of General Duty police officers.
In his post, Osoro said he interacted with some of the graduands and congratulated them as they prepare to serve the nation.
This has triggered questions among residents of Likuyani.
In Kenya, it is widely known that Members of Parliament often receive recommendation letters (barua) for police and other disciplined forces recruitment. Some MPs publicly stand with the officers they supported during pass-out ceremonies.
Residents are now asking:
Did the Likuyani MP, Hon. Innocent Mugabe, also receive police recruitment letters?
Did he give them out fairly to qualified youth from the constituency?
Or were the letters sold, as has been alleged in other areas?
So far, there has been no public recognition or celebration of Likuyani youth who may have benefited through the MP’s office in recent police recruitment exercises.
Questions on the ground:
How many youth from Likuyani were recruited into the police service through the MP’s recommendation?
Were the letters distributed transparently?
Why are other MPs publicly associating with the officers they supported while silence surrounds Likuyani?
Wananchi deserve transparency on opportunities meant for local youth.
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
