Malala Supports Grassroots Sports Teams in Makunga
Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala on Sunday, 9 August 2026, held a meeting with sports teams at Makunga and distributed balls and sports apparels.
The 23 teams that attended were drawn from Lugari, Mumias East and Likuyani.
Malala said sports of all cadres remain one of the most important sectors in the county, both for fitness and monetisation, especially for the youth.
He noted that the Cleo Malala Super Cup has now entered its seventh season, with rugby as a new entrant. He said as the tournament grows, the focus is shifting to more teams and a better football experience for players and fans.
“This year, we commit a bigger and better tournament for all participating teams,” he stated.
The support comes as Malala continues to engage grassroots sports structures across the county.
