Deberious Defends Himself on Youth Jobs
Likuyani MP aspirant Deberious Shikuku has defended himself against criticism that he has not created employment opportunities for youth despite being in the Kenya Kwanza government.
Shikuku said his current role as a board member does not come with significant resources or influence.
“Board Member is not a well paying job. I get an allowance of 20k per meeting and there are only 4 meetings in a year. Hakuna pesa huko,” he said.
He added that if he were a Member of Parliament, it would be easier to use that influence to push companies and institutions to employ young people from the area.
“If I were MP, the influence would make it easier to push for youth jobs. You cannot just walk into a company as Deberious and demand that they employ people,” he stated.
