Barasa Urges Sifuna to Return to ODM
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has advised Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to make a comeback to ODM, claiming the senator is being played by people he considered friends.
Speaking recently, Barasa said Sifuna had planned to launch a party called Ukombozi, but the name was taken by Kalonzo Musyoka, who recently renamed the Azimio coalition to Ukombozi. He added that Sifuna also spoke of forming a party called Wananchi, which was later taken by Babu Owino.
“Ndugu yangu Sifuna, umeanza kufanyiwa mchezo. Ulikuwa unafikiria uko na marafiki. Ulikuwa unasema utafungua chama cha Ukombozi, ikaenda kwa Kalonzo. Chama cha Wananchi ikachukuliwa na Babu. Tunakupenda kama ndugu yetu. Rudi nyumbani. You’re still young,” Barasa said.
Meanwhile, Babu Owino has already launched his party but has stated that he will support Sifuna for President and called for the formation of a coalition.
Barasa reminded Sifuna that the late Raila Odinga built ODM as a political home and urged him to return if he still respects Baba’s legacy.
Questions on the ground:
Will Sifuna consider returning to ODM as advised by Barasa?
How will the division between Babu Owino’s new party and Sifuna’s presidential ambition play out?
Does Kalonzo’s move to rename Azimio to Ukombozi complicate opposition unity?
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
