Malala Endorses Deberious Shikuku for Likuyani MP Seat
Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has thrown his weight behind Hon. Deberious Shikuku Wafula’s bid for the Likuyani parliamentary seat in 2027.
After going through Shikuku’s development plan for the constituency, Malala publicly stated that he wholeheartedly supports the bid, describing Shikuku as a great leader and the right choice for Likuyani.
In his response, Shikuku appreciated the endorsement and also expressed support for Malala’s own political journey.
Shikuku’s Plan for Likuyani
The aspirant recently released a detailed blueprint under the slogan #InawezekanaNaShikuku, built around three main pillars:
1. Education & Human Capital
Shikuku has made education the number-one NG-CDF priority. His plan includes modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, improved sanitation, transparent bursaries, skills training, TVET, and support for youth to access driving licences and road safety training.
2. Infrastructure, Opportunity & Community Empowerment
He has promised that roads will be prioritised based on residents’ needs rather than political interests. The plan also focuses on using NG-CDF resources for critical local infrastructure and linking empowerment programmes to jobs and skills instead of one-off handouts.
3. Security, Representation & Accountability
Shikuku says he will push for better security resources in Likuyani, decentralise citizen service offices, hold regular public forums, track government projects, and report regularly to wananchi on what has been delivered.
Malala’s endorsement adds significant political weight to Shikuku’s early campaign, especially in a constituency where the 2027 race is expected to be highly competitive.
