Malala Hits Back Hard at Barasa Over Defamation Demand
Senator Cleophas Malala has refused to retract statements or content linked to Governor Fernandes Barasa, instead issuing a strongly worded response through his lawyers.
In a letter dated from Wamalwa & Echesa Co. Advocates, Malala’s legal team stated that they had received the Governor’s demand letter dated 29th September 2026 but would not issue any apology or retraction.
The letter goes further to make a series of serious allegations against Barasa, including claims of historical involvement in witchcraft, possession of confidential audio recordings, and other accusations that the Senator’s side says they are ready to make public.
Malala’s lawyers also stated that the Governor has no reputation or moral standing that would qualify for legal protection in the matter, and invited him to proceed to court if he wishes.
The response escalates the already tense political exchange between the two leaders.
Questions on the ground:
Will Governor Barasa proceed with the legal action he initiated?
How will Kakamega residents react to the fresh accusations?
Is this exchange likely to intensify as 2027 approaches?
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
