Miss Farouk – Innocent Mugabe Edition
Likuyani Member of Parliament Hon. Innocent Maino Mugabe has become so closely associated with Farouk Kibet that some residents now refer to him as “Miss Farouk.”
In the past two weeks alone, Mugabe has appeared with Farouk Kibet in multiple empowerment events across different counties. These include boda boda and tuk-tuk empowerment drives in Trans Nzoia and other areas, in addition to joint appearances at funerals and private visits. On Sunday morning, the MP was even spotted at Farouk’s home.
The growing closeness has not gone unnoticed. Recently, Farouk publicly praised Mugabe, saying the Likuyani MP is capable of handling bigger responsibilities in Parliament if he returns for a second term.
While the MP has time to move around with Farouk and frequently arrive in the constituency by helicopter, key roads in Likuyani remain in poor condition. Residents have repeatedly complained about the state of infrastructure, yet chopper trips — including for funerals — have become common.
Hiring a helicopter in Kenya currently costs between KSh 250,000 and KSh 400,000 per hour. A return trip from Nairobi to Western Kenya can range from KSh 800,000 to KSh 1.5 million. When such trips happen often, the total cost quickly rises into millions of shillings.
Questions on the ground:
Why is the MP spending Sunday morning at Farouk’s home instead of focusing on constituency work?
How many helicopter trips has he made in the last one month, and who pays for them?
If resources allow frequent chopper travel, why are major roads in Likuyani still pending?
Is this political strategy or misplaced priorities?
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
