Mugabe to Rigathi: You Have Started Crying Too Early
Likuyani Member of Parliament Hon. Innocent Mugabe has launched a scathing attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Senator Methu over their recent statements on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Speaking on Friday, 28th August 2026, Mugabe dismissed the frequent press conferences in Nairobi about IEBC,
saying:
“Kukaa Nairobi na kuita press conference about IEBC this IEBC that, IEBC haipigi kura, wananchi ndio wanapiga kura. Mumeanza kulia mapema sana.”
He mocked the opposition, saying if they had not impeached Rigathi, he would have proposed making him (or Senator Methu) the IEBC Chair so that they could “win” the election while sitting there.
Mugabe emphasised that elections are decided by wananchi, not the IEBC.
He went further and accused Rigathi of promoting tribalism:
“Wewe kama mkabila na umejitangaza kama mkabila, wewe na ukabila yako utakuisha. Hiyo Amerika unashinda ukienda huko hakuna kura, na Amerika hakuna ukabila… uache kutuletea ukabila Kenya.”
The MP warned that the political contest has just begun, saying:
“Bado ndio ngoma imeanza sasa. Tutakutembeza hii Kenya.”
The remarks add to the growing political tension as different camps position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
