Mugabe Renews Criticism of Past Leaders Over Skewed Resource Allocation
Likuyani Member of Parliament Hon. Innocent Maino Mugabe has once again hit out at former leaders for what he described as deliberate concentration of national resources in one part of the country.
Speaking on Monday, 31st August 2026, during a Women Empowerment drive in Vihiga Constituency, Vihiga County, Mugabe said:
“Tunapigania rasilimali ya nchi. Kwa miaka mingi sana pesa ilikuwa inabaki sehemu moja, wakatunga sheria pesa ibaki pahali pamoja.”
The MP argued that for many years, development and public funds were directed to only one region through deliberate policies, leaving other areas behind.
This is not the first time Mugabe has raised the issue. In recent days, he has repeatedly linked the imbalance to past leadership, including the era of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and earlier administrations, while defending current projects in Western, Nyanza and North Eastern regions.
His latest remarks in Vihiga continue the same message: that the current administration is correcting a long-standing historical imbalance in the distribution of national resources.
Questions on the ground:
Is Mugabe’s repeated criticism of past leaders resonating with residents in Western Kenya?
Will the focus on historical injustice help or hurt his political standing ahead of 2027?
How sustainable is this narrative as the political temperature rises?
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
