Mugabe Announces Progress on Matunda–Kona Mbaya–Brigadier Road
Likuyani Member of Parliament Hon. Innocent Mugabe has issued a status update on the long-delayed upgrade of the Matunda Junction–Kona Mbaya–Brigadier Road.
In a statement dated 30th September 2026, the MP said the road has been a major challenge for residents, motorists and businesses for a long time.
He explained that his office successfully pushed for the cancellation of a previous contract and the separation of the Matunda–Brigadier section from the Naitiri–Misikhu section to allow a fresh procurement process.
According to the statement, KeRRA advertised the Matunda–Brigadier Road (RWC 943) and Kosoki–Mawe Tatu roads (RWC 944) on 24th February 2026. The Kosoki–Mawe Tatu contract was awarded and the contractor is already on site.
The initial tender for the Matunda–Brigadier Road was unresponsive and was later re-advertised on 19th June 2026 under tender number RWC 1034.
Mugabe said the tendering process has now been completed, the contract has been awarded, and the contractor is expected to commence works in a month’s time.
He called for patience as the project approaches the final stages of preparation.
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
