Ruto Hands Over 2,157 Homes at Pioneer Affordable Housing Project
President William Ruto has handed over keys to 2,157 homeowners at the Pioneer Affordable Housing Project in Eldoret City, Uasin Gishu County.
The KSh 5.3 billion estate features 104 shops, a kindergarten, playgrounds, green open spaces, a clubhouse and a swimming pool. It will also include a junior school, two basketball courts and a football pitch, creating a well-planned community where residents can live, work and play.
According to the President, the project has created opportunities for local Jua Kali artisans, with KSh 264 million going to 84 Jua Kali associations in Eldoret. Across the North Rift, Jua Kali artisans have benefited from opportunities worth KSh 3.8 billion, while nationally the figure stands at KSh 61 billion.
The government has also incorporated art into the Affordable Housing Programme by engaging local artists, including painters, to beautify the buildings, thereby creating jobs and supporting the creative economy.
