“We Are Tired” – Sango Residents Accuse MP Mugabe of Neglecting Mapera–Sikhendu Bridge After Student’s Death
Sango Ward, Likuyani – Residents of Sango Ward are furious following the death of a female student who was swept away by floodwaters at the Mapera–Sikhendu bridge.
A strongly worded post that is trending on Facebook directly blames Likuyani MP Hon. Innocent Maino Mugabe for failing to fix the bridge despite receiving massive NG-CDF allocations.
The post states:
“Hon. Innocent Mugabe, as Sango, we are tired of your leadership… The Mapera–Sikhendu bridge, which used to be maintained with the late MP Hon. Kibunguchy, you have skipped it because it is in Sango Ward… Our children are losing their lives at this bridge. Why can’t you find a permanent solution through CDF? You have received almost half a billion in CDF but you cannot build a bridge that would cost less than 10 million.”
Residents claim the bridge has not received meaningful attention under the current MP, unlike during the time of the late Hon. Kibunguchy. They accuse the MP of treating Sango Ward as his “last option” and demand transparency and accountability on how NG-CDF funds are being used.
Questions on the ground:
Why has the Mapera–Sikhendu bridge been neglected for almost four years despite huge NG-CDF allocations?
How many more lives must be lost before a permanent solution is built?
Where exactly has the CDF money for Sango Ward been spent?
The death of the student has sparked widespread anger, with many residents saying enough is enough.
Likuyani Digest will continue following this matter. If you are from Sango Ward and have more information or photos of the bridge, send them (anonymously is okay). This is your platform.
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
