Savula: Luhya Community Transferring Votes to Ruto
Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has said the Luhya community is shifting its political support from former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to President William Ruto.
Speaking recently, Savula stated that the community previously backed Raila but is now transferring its votes to the President because of the development being witnessed under his leadership.
“Sisi kama jamii ya Waluyha tulikuwa tunapea Raila kura. Saa hii Raila hayuko, sasa tunatransfer kura zetu zote kwa William Ruto kwa sababu ya maendeleo Ruto anafanya. Mumias Sugar inafanya, Nzoia Sugar inafanya,” Savula said.
He added that the opposition has no capacity to unseat President Ruto in the next election.
Savula also issued a warning to the youth, urging them not to allow themselves to be used as goons by the opposition.
“Huko upande wa upinzani hawawezi. Hakuna mwenye anaweza angusha Ruto. Vijana msitumiwe kama goons wa opposition,” he said.
The Deputy Governor’s remarks come amid ongoing political realignment in Western Kenya as different leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Questions on the ground:
How widespread is this shift in Luhya support according to residents?
Will the revival of Mumias and Nzoia sugar factories translate into real political capital for Ruto in the region?
How will opposition leaders in Western Kenya respond to Savula’s declaration?
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
