Katabachi Quits Football to Focus on Nzoia Ward MCA Bid
Wilson Katabachi has officially announced that he is stepping down from active football to concentrate on his political journey.
In a statement released Friday, 25th September 2026, Katabachi said he will be vying for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat for Nzoia Ward in the 2027 General Election.
He described the decision as one of the hardest of his life, noting that football shaped him through discipline, teamwork and leadership.
“Football has made me who I am. But the same passion that made me fight on the pitch is now calling me to fight for my people off the pitch,” Katabachi said.
He added that Nzoia Ward needs youthful leadership and a voice that understands the struggles of the youth, farmers and sportsmen.
Katabachi clarified that he is not abandoning football completely and will continue supporting and developing sports in the ward.
Stay informed. Stay ahead.
